The first week in the new space was AWESOME!!! I hope that those of you who came in felt the same way!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming!

The past month or so has been a little crazy for most of us. The end of the year and holiday chaos can cause some significant stress in our lives. It is important to remember that stress is not always a bad thing, despite the fact that the word itself seems to carry a negative connotation. Obviously, these stresses will impact each of us a little differently.

This week I spoke with several patients who have all continued to struggle with these stresses. Simply because the holiday season is over, do not assume that the stress will immediately end. When we are stressed we often struggle with getting into good sleeping habits. One of our patients had a regression in her symptoms earlier this week, and after a long discussion, she finally explained to me that she was not sleeping well. Upon further questioning she told me that she had only been getting around 4 hours of sleep per night. I explained to her that she needed to get much more than just 4 hours of sleep per night, because our body needs that time to recover from the wear and tear of the day. Not to mention all the other benefits of a full night of sleep.

So if you are looking for a simple goal to strive for this year, why not try to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night.

(That is enough writing for me... off to bed!)
