What You Say Matters, But How You Say It Matters MORE!

Many of you know that I have three little girls, and that means that regardless of how busy I may be in the office I am DEFINITELY more busy at home. Trying to raise three little girls is a challenge, and one that I do not know if I will ever be completely ready for! A conversation with a patient earlier today was very enlightening. She told me ALL ABOUT her children and the trouble that they got into, but what was more important was when she told me how she and her husband helped them through those times. It was inspiring to me. She pointed me to an article that she had read recently and I wanted to share it with you.

The article focused on the work of Leonard Sax who is a family physician, psychologist, and author. Dr. Sax recently wrote a book, The Collapse of Parenting, which focuses on the all too common mistakes made by parents today.  Some of the changes that Dr. Sax recommends making are:

1. Eat Meals as a Family and Make It A Priority
2. Take Screens Out Of The Bedroom (TV/Computers/Phones/etc)
3. Teach Your Children Humility
4. Create An Alliance Between Yourself and Your Children’s School
5. Be a Parent and Watch What They Do
