What are the Five Pillars of Health?


Over the past week, the same conversation seems to keep popping up. What's really strange is that it is coming up with different patients, and each time for a different reason. 

Each time that it comes up our conversation seems to be centered on that patient's overall health. We typically are talking about how their overall health impacts their pain levels. This will often lead to a little exploration of what I call - The Five Pillars of Health. In my opinion, if we as individuals, found a way to address these five facets of our health we would be able to prevent for some, and treat for others, many of the chronic illnesses that we, as a society, have been forced to deal with.

   These five pillars, for the most part, are completely under our control. They do not require any outside intervention, other than education. No medication, just dedication. Last week, we talked about the five things that we spend the most time doing. I would argue that for many of us focusing on these Five Pillars should be a priority.

Each week over the next 5 weeks, I will discuss each of these Pillars individually. For today, I just want to introduce them to you.

SLEEP
HYDRATION
 MEDITATION

In my opinion, if you can control these five things you have a much better chance at living a long, healthy, happy life!
