I can't believe it...

I cannot believe that I am even writing this, but we had to return to requiring a mask in the office this week. Before anyone gets too worked up, we want you to know that no one forced our hand in making this decision. No one has dictated to us that we need to do this. It is simply us doing what we currently believe is best for our patients, our families, our practice, and the community at large.

This was not an easy decision for us to make. To be honest, Carol and I have been watching the numbers over the past couple of weeks. Each week it seems like the numbers are heading farther and farther in the wrong direction. We also know that children in Carroll County recently returned to school, without a mask mandate. The state Board of Education just changed that directive, and now the students are being required to wear a mask while at school. This seems to be the trend again as we head into the fall and winter.

Earlier this week, I stopped at Target in Westminster, and they began requiring masks again.  Outside their door, is this sign -

This is not a decision that we take lightly. We have given this a lot (probably too much) thought before deciding what we thought was best. When we originally lifted our mask requirement for our office in July, just a little over 2 months ago, our positivity rate was floating at around 1%. As of the time that I am writing this, in Carroll County, our positivity rate is 6.00%...

I hope that you can understand why we are making this decision, and how tough a decision it is for us to make.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
