Many people set goals during the COVID-19 pandemic. I heard a lot of really good suggestions from a lot of different people. Some people wanted to spend more time with their families. Some wanted to use that time to get fitter. Some people got puppies. Some wanted to catch up on Netflix. Some wanted to learn new skills that would help them to adapt to our everchanging world. That was me! That was my goal.

I wanted to learn during that time. Don't get me wrong I took full advantage of the extra time with my girls, but I needed to make sure that I made that time productive in more ways than one. Learning new skills became my focus, improving my ability to help more people. The first thing that I did was to jump in on some online kettlebell classes that were lead by a mentor of mine, Darius Gilbert. Darius is a Master RKC, which basically means that he is the equivalent of a Kettlebell Ninja. (The best side effect of this is that Carol and our daughter, Madelyn joined in too - Learning + Family Time = Win/Win)

Then I enrolled in a new online kettlebell course to continue to learn. Just like everything else in this world, it is a great thing to learn from a lot of different sources. Soon I realized that while I was sharpening my current toolset, but I was not stepping outside of my comfort zone. ALL of the cool stuff happens outside of your comfort zone.

Would learning more about kettlebells allow me to help more people?

So I took the leap! For years I have been contemplating adding some health/nutrition coaching services to the list of services that we offer at Freedom Chiropractic & Rehab. The Precision Nutrition program has been on my radar for about 5 years. This program has been recommended to me by colleagues, friends, and coaches! It is one of the most respected nutrition certification programs. Lack of time had always limited my ability to register for and focus on completing this course. COVID-19 effectively eliminated that excuse, so I registered for the certification about 5 months ago. Every week, I would set aside time to study and read the course material, do the practice questions, take the tests, and practice what I was learning on myself.

Today I am happy, and proud, to announce that I am a Certified Nutrition Coach!

About a year ago, I realized that I discuss nutrition and exercise with almost every patient that comes into the office, but rarely do we have the time to take a deep dive into the habits behind making good decisions regarding nutrition and exercise. If you would like to work with me on getting your nutrition and health back on track! Send me an email and let's set up a meeting!
